The Wandrful Story

Wandrful is inspired by the never-ending pursuit
of wondrous locations from around the world.

We love to travel and go on adventures, wandering into the world experiencing beautiful places.

And whilst on a trip to the Maldives, we were inspired to create a brand to embody this. Starting with our own range of beach towels showcasing our beautiful beaches and coastlines we call home in Sydney, Australia.

The Concept

As a photographer I’ve been lucky enough to capture some breathtaking landscapes from around the world, however taking aerial photos in the Maldives was a dream come true. Looking down upon the islands from the seaplane was an incredible experience. And it was on one afternoon taking photos of our scribbles in the sand, I looked down at our thick and heavy cabana striped towels and I thought to myself how cool it would be if we could create a beach towel range with a unique design using aerial photography instead of just the usual patterns that we see on the beach.

A beautiful birds-eye perspective as you lay down would make you feel as though you’re on top of the ocean. And what better oceans to showcase then the beautiful beaches we have in our own backyard here in Sydney, Australia.

But it needed to be more than just look good, the humble beach towel has always been so bulky and cumbersome, especially after it gets wet and sandy, and the worst thing for when you travel. We also noticed first-hand that the lack of plastic waste floating around made such a difference to the purity of the water and helping marine life thrive. So our mission was to create a towel that was all things fashionable, functional and sustainable.

Fast forward to today, after many, many months of research and testing, I am stoked to say we have finally turned the vision into a reality. Especially during the pandemic, we have realised more than ever just how lucky we are to have so many incredible beaches on our doorstep. We are proud to say our sand-free beach towels are made up of post-consumer plastic. Recycled and spun into polyester fibre before being woven into our fabric, so you can look good, feel good whilst helping the environment one towel at a time.

X marks your favourite beachside spot.

Have you ever been to the beach and professed your love by writing someone’s name in the sand? Well, we have, and that was the inspiration behind our Oceanlust design. We absolutely love the beaches on our doorstep and we want everyone to know about it.

Combine this with aerial photography showcasing the bird’s eye view of some of our most iconic beaches in Sydney, Australia. From the Northern Beaches of Mona Vale, Shelly Beach in Manly, Freshwater, Balmoral to the Eastern Suburbs beaches of Bondi, Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee, Maroubra and Cronulla in the Sutherland Shire.

A fresh twist on the classic Cabana Stripes.

Nothing says the beach and summer like the classic cabana stripes. But we wanted a fresh take on the classic design. Our unique design uses what we call liquid cabana stripes.

Combining the traditional design with a liquid look, as if you have just taken a dip in the ocean, instantly makes you feel fresh and cool.

A lot of love has gone into our towel and bag designs, and we hope you enjoy Wandrful times taking your favourite beach locations with you on all your beach  adventures.

Cheers,
